We review and compare home energy and solar products for UK buyers — funded by affiliate links and ads, never by the brands we cover. Here's exactly how that works.
Who we are
Energy And Solar Products is an independent UK publication covering home energy and solar gadgets — portable power stations, solar chargers and power banks, home energy monitors and solar garden lighting. We exist because these categories are full of confident marketing and thin, near-identical roundups, and buyers deserve better than a reworded spec sheet.
We're readers first. Every guide is written for someone standing in front of a shelf (or a search results page) trying to work out which product is genuinely worth their money — and which watt-hour headline is hiding a catch.
How we test and choose
We start from what real UK buyers are actually asking, then judge products on the specifications that decide real-world performance — not the ones that photograph well. In power stations that means battery chemistry and honest usable capacity; in solar chargers it means panel area, not a giant mAh number; in garden lights it means the battery, the panel placement and the weather rating.
Our roundups rank by role — best overall, best budget, best for a specific job — because the right product depends on what you need it for. Prices are given as realistic bands rather than a single figure that dates the day it's published, and we pin the year on anything time-sensitive.
Editorial independence
No brand can pay for a place in a roundup, a better score, or a kinder verdict. We write the recommendation first and add any shopping links afterwards. Where a whole category is dominated by over-promised gadgets, we say so plainly — even when it would be more profitable not to.
How we're funded
We keep the site free to read through affiliate links and advertising. If you buy a product after following one of our links, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. That funding pays for the research; it never buys a ranking. You'll find the same disclosure at the foot of every review, because you deserve to know exactly how the lights stay on.
What we don't do
- 1 We don't sell or install anything, and we don't take quote enquiries — we're a publisher, not a shop or a trade business.
- 2 We don't publish fabricated reviews, invented prices or fake credentials. If we haven't verified something, we don't state it as fact.
- 3 We don't let commercial relationships change a verdict, and we label them honestly.
- 4 We correct mistakes. If we've got something wrong, we fix it and note the change.
